Links-R-Us, Vol. 2

Welcome to Link Friday.  With that being said, here goes!
Our fist link is one that is sort of a blast from the past.  Both my Father and I used to work for the Federal Government at one point – he as a civil servant in an office, myself as a supply clerk for a government contractor.  It’s an interesting read, but it definitely not humorous.  It’s sad, really, the disparity between the pay of the civil servant, contractor employee and the contractor.
These two link talk about e-readers.  The first link is to the “sound-bite” on Slashdot.  The second link is to the actual article.  Now my question is…  Are they sure that the weight change occurs due to loading an e-book onto the e-reader and not due to the oil smudges from the fingers that request the e-book?
My next links occurred on Halloween.  Just a note to the wise:  if you have a warrant out for your arrest, start yelling at the police when they come to arrest your friend.  If you insist on being that stupid, make sure that you are still dressed in your Halloween costume as a convict.  I’ve included links to both the local and original articles.
Our next to last link is to a video that is dear to my heart.  As an avid Scouter and a brother to one who serves our country in the military, this link is the best of both worlds.  Three Cub Scout boys welcoming troops home from Afghanistan at the airport without a single clue that one of the soldiers will be their father.
And lastly, in the ongoing saga of the Lego Man that washed up on shore, we have the following article about where he has been taken and what will come of him.  Seems that the police took him into custody until he is claimed by the owner or a set number of days pass to allow the “finders-keepers” rule to kick in…  The last two paragraphs give some clues as to his origin and purpose, but there are conflicting reports concerning if it is factual or not.
With any luck I have helped to start your weekend off in a positive way!  Happy Friday!
