Links-R-Us, Vol. 18

I’m sure that at some point or another we have all felt that life gets in the way of us doing things that we want to do.  That seems to be my life right now.  I always wanted to start and maintain a blog that was kept up to date and regularly posted to…  Unfortunately, life has gotten in the way of that…  So, to get back into the swing of things, I bring you today another Link-Friday.

Our first link is to an article about a man who took some thieves for a ride.  When Noah Magram received a phone call telling him that his computer had an infection and he needed to download some software to fix it, he had a better idea.  You see, Noah is a computer security expert.  This story is about a computer scammer being scammed by the scammee.  It also gives some interesting information about how these groups work.  Enjoy!

Our next link is to an article about Harry Potter – specifically all the spells used in the Harry Potter movies.  The imbedded YouTube link leads to a video with almost 18 minutes worth of spells.  There are also a few other links in the article to YouTube videos for other movies.  Have fun.

Speaking of movies…  Our next links are to an article about and the actual website promoting the “Save the Lars Homestead” cause.  That’s right – Luke’s home in the original Star Wars movie (“Episode IV – A New Hope” for the younger crowd…).  I’ve heard of being a fan for something, but this seems to be a little too “fan boy” for me…

It’s been 50 years since Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers escaped from Alcatraz.  I know this article is a wee bit dated, but I had to include it.  You see, I always thought the three inmates died while trying to escape – that is until I saw the Mythbusters episode where Adam and Jamie made a similar raft and managed to successfully cross the bay to land.  I don’t think we will ever know the real story unless one of them turns up and says, “Here I am.”  But, having always been intrigued by Alcatraz, I couldn’t resist this link.

Our last link today is to a fairly well-known organization.  We always hear about this show or that being rated number one and such so I thought I would bring you the link to the “Nielsen Weekly Top Tens & Trends.”  Yes, boys and girls, it’s the people who track viewership and purchases in the entertainment industry.  Have fun exploring but be careful to not get too lost in the minutia of the moment. Thanks for checking things out.  With any luck I’ll be back in the saddle and writing regularly now.  Thanks for hanging around despite the unplanned hiatus.
