Links-R-Us, Vol. 1

Well, it’s Friday morning.  I wish today actually felt like a Friday.  Instead, I feel like I’m just a hollow shell.  Haven’t you ever felt that way?  Everything should be awesome, but it’s not?  You must live with what is, but you can’t fix it and things will never be the same…  That’s my Friday this week.
But enough of that…
Seeing how this is my first of many posts with links that sparked my interest, how about I explain my thought process to you just this once?  Over the past couple of days I have been copying down links that have really peaked my interest.  Along with the links, I’m gonna write a small little blurb that hopefully explains “why” I was interested in the link.  With that said, here goes…

Welcome to the new Provo, Utah I-15 interchange.  In about a month, this painful monstrosity of a freeway on/off ramp is going to go into effect.  Even with this bloody tutorial, I don’t really see how this is going to “improve” traffic flow.  I’ve taken the old system on my way to and from work five times a week for more than a decade.  I know how unforgiving and suicidal most people who will use this interchange will be.  I have a sick feeling that, true to past experience, nobody will ever let you merge to the lane that you need to be in.  Almost all access to and from the freeway will need to merge across three lanes of traffic.  Good luck with that…
About five months ago, my older brother who is in the Army returned from his third tour of service in Iraq.  First, let me publicly thank him for choosing to stand on a wall with a gun so that my family can be safe each night.  With that being said, I seriously wonder if the sacrifice that he and his family went through will be in vain.  I read this article last night and it really has some excellent points in it concerning the announcement by President Obama that we were going to pull TOTALLY out of Iraq.
Next I have a link to a video that, shall we say, really made me go, “Hmmm…”  How does a 100 pound Lego Man actually wash up on a beach?  Didn’t anyone notice that he was gone?  Or, did they notice but their cries of “Man overboard” came too late to actually save the poor chap? It’s not like he’s the size of the men my son has…  If anyone sees any follow up information as to what the actually circumstances of this man’s arrival at the beach were I would love to hear the full story.
And, finally, a story that is fitting for Halloween.  Here’s a link to an article explaining the homemade special effects from Hollywood B-Movies.  It talks about all the techniques used to make someone’s skin look like a freshly revived Zombie (and there's a recipe for fake blood in there too).
I hope you all enjoy the links as much as I did.
