Links-R-Us, Vol. 24

Welcome to another Link-Friday post.  I know it’s been forever since last I posted, but this week I really couldn’t let slip by.

Our first link is to an article about a true American hero.  It’s about a soldier that was nearly killed in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber.  This is the story of his purple heart being awarded and his actions afterwards.  Enjoy.

Once upon a time there was a movie named BIG.  In this movie there was a BIG piano.  It was played by a BIG kid and a BIG boss.  When all was said and done, it was a BIG deal.  Here’s a link to the modern day remake by the same BIG actor (and also a clip of the original scene from the movie).

This link is more for me…  This is a time-lapse video of Space Shuttle Endeavour’s Final Ride to its new home.  As a space nut, I enjoy things like this.  As a space nut, it also hurts as we should still be flying SOMETHING into space.  So, for me, a truly bittersweet video.

This next link tears me up.  I have watched many relatives and friends pass through the journey known as cancer – some have survived and some have not.  This link is about a man who did the right thing to brighten someone’s day that really needed it.

And now for my final link – a link about sleep.  We all wonder what really goes on inside our brains when we sleep.  Up until now I thought I understood all the physiological changes, brain wave patterns, etc.  However, my “all knowing” understanding of what happens has just been taken down a notch by new research that shows sleep does a lot more than just cause dreams and wave patterns.

And so we once again leave another Link-Friday.  Thanks for taking the time to read.
