Links-R-Us, Vol. 11

Welcome once again to Link-Friday!  Today’s selection of links has once again returned to the standard five after last week’s Link-Friday Clearinghouse.  These five links are the last of the links that I have managed to store up over the last little while; and unfortunately I have not come across any more links that have really sparked my interest enough to be included in Link-Friday…  So, this may be one of the last Link-Fridays for a little while.  Keep your eyes open, because you never know when the next Link-Friday post will once again pop up.  And, on that note, here are the links!
Our first link is to a fun video that was on one of the local news outlets.  This link leads us to a man who made a “Star Wars” type video based on him playing music from the Star Wars movies on his cello.  The article that accompanied the video brought up a good point that I wish to repeat – would Darth Vader actually do something that silly?  You be the judge.
This link comes to us from Google.  I recently stumbled across a link to a site called Google Captions.  This website is filled with cartoons of events through history and literature and you are asked to come up with the “search term” that would be used by those in the cartoon based on the event that is occurring.  Enjoy.
We now enter the area of criminals doing fairly stupid (and I mean stupid) things.  This link is to a man who stole a police car after being arrested.  Apparently the officer returned to the scene of the crime to gather more information after locking the criminal in the back of his squad car – which I’m guessing he felt was a mistake after the man he arrested started to drive out of the parking lot with the car.  Pay close attention to what the criminal did after taking off in the car (hint, hint – radio).  You’ve gotta wonder what goes on in these guys heads…
This link also links to somebodies criminalistic behavior.  Apparently a man attempted to shoot a dog that was riding in the car with him and his girlfriend.  He missed and managed to shoot her instead.  I’ve been following this story off and on since it was first reported (which is what the link is to) and the man is claiming “self-defense” because the dog was attacking them and he was trying to protect everyone in the car.  Ok – maybe.  But that really doesn’t answer the question as to why he had a gun when he was currently not allowed to have any firearms.  I’ll let you be the judge.
Our last link today is to an article concerning the great George Lucas.  It turns out that he’s tired of making major motion pictures and is therefore choosing to hang up the towel and just do projects that are of interest to him.  This link is to the five page New York Times interview with him where he talks about his current movie, Red Tails, and his decision to retire.  (Watch for me writing more about this in a future blog entry…).
And on THAT relatively sad note, thanks for tuning into another Link-Friday.
