Thanks again for tuning into another episode of Link-Friday. May your day be better for the visit!
Welcome once again to another Link-Friday! Looking back on previous posts I have discovered that almost half of the Link-Friday posts have missed the mark by at least one day. So, I am officially declaring any day that a Link-Friday post comes out is an honorary Friday. And with all that being said, on to todays links.
My first link is to a story I had not heard about. My brother who stayed with us for Christmas told me about this one. Apparently Bank of America tried to foreclose on a couple that had paid cash on their home and did not have a mortgage. After hearing the case, the court sided with the couple (becuase they had never had a mortgage with Bank of America) and it ordered BofA to pay for court costs. Well, when BofA did not pay up the couple’s attorney showed up with the sheriff and foreclosed on the local branch – seizing all the assets of the bank. Movers were standing by with the sheriff and his deputies until an hour later the manager gave the couple a check for the amount owed. The couple’s next move is to sue for their legal fees. This really seems like poetic justice in the aftermath of all the improper foreclosures we’ve read about. The link includes the story as well as a video. Enjoy:
Our next set of links are about animals going berserk. Yes, animals. The first link is to a video about a crocodile that decided to attack and drown the lawnmower of the grounds keeper at a zoo in Australia. The second link is to a story about an eight point deer crashing into a basement bedroom on Christmas Eve. All I have to say is PLEASE take care of your pet so that it doesn’t end up like either of these (but then again, who has pet crocodiles and deers?!):

This next link is one that makes you just want to say... Uh… Well… I never really found the words for it. Admiration, outrage, stupidity, fear, feel-good happy moment – they all come to mind. It’s about a father that didn’t want to break his daughter’s heart – thus the admiration and feel-good happy moment. Unfortunately, he was wanted for parole violation and was never properly vetted to go on the school field trip with her – and that brings forth the outrage, stupidity and fear. While on the field trip, the father in question was recognized by another parent who then alerted authorities. I really hope that it was all worth it:
This link is one that has been two decades in the making. The Science Fiction Encyclopedia website has finally gone live twenty years after being announced. Wow! My blogging less frequent than I desire really doesn’t seem that bad anymore…
Our final story is one about people who chose to make a difference instead of being apathetic. This is a story about how innocent bystanders waded into an icy river and saved the lives of three children trapped in an upside down car. The accident happened up Logan Canyon in Utah. The car slid off the road and flipped into the river. The driver got out, but his two children and their friend didn’t. Bystanders waded in and turned the car upright. The children were rescued and are expected to make a full recovery. I’ve included the initial local story and the most recent national article about the rescue:
